Energy Equation

The last couple of very, very busy weeks has reminded me of two things:

1. Energy matters

2. Energy really, really matters.

I have good energy for about three weeks out of every month as long as I pay attention to my food, my exercise, my sleep, my spiritual state, my house, my finances, my future, my relationships and my boundaries. Sounds like a lot doesn't it?

It IS a lot but after struggling with fatigue for so long when I don't pay attention to those things, I find I always suffer when I don't pay attention to my energy. And the suffering means I end up in bed for a few days and my fingers and wrists and ankles hurt and most movement causes pain and I can't focus or feel the motivation to do ANYTHING. My goal is to have boundless energy every day. But when I indulge off plan with treats, or  I go to bed late or get up really early,  or I travel,  or I get busy and do not exercise, or I forget to pray or read scriptures, it takes a huge toll on me. Maybe not on Day 1 or Day 2 but certainly by Day 3 I notice it and if it continues longer, I really, really notice it.

I have been pushing really hard for two weeks. I have been off my regular schedule and doing all kinds of things out of the ordinary. I am ready for the routine again. I am ready to move forward with work and my personal goals. I am back at the gym today. I am back on track with my food. I am connecting to God again. My joints hurt. All I want to do is sleep. And I have a lot of work to complete this week but I am doing the things required for my energy to rebound.

  • Sleep
  • Nourishing food
  • Exercise
  • Decluttering/Cleaning
  • Spiritual connection
What are your energy enhancers? Anything like mine?
